Find your fit
A measurement is a useful starting point. The size guide for the particular shoe, its shape, and your own fit preferences also matter.
What you will need
Gather a sheet of paper larger than your foot, a pencil, and a ruler or measuring tape. Use a firm, level surface and wear the type of socks you plan to wear with the shoes, if any.
Measure both feet
- Place the paper on the floor against a wall and stand with your heel lightly touching the wall.
- Keep your weight evenly distributed. Ask someone to mark the end of your longest toe if that makes it easier to keep the pencil upright.
- Measure straight from the heel edge of the paper to the toe mark. Record the result in the unit used by the product's size guide.
- Repeat for the other foot. Use the longer measurement as your starting point and retain both measurements for reference.
- If the product guide includes width, follow its measurement instructions. Length alone does not describe the complete fit.
Use the guide for the exact style
Compare your measurement with the size information on the product page. Check whether the table lists foot length or a shoe measurement, and confirm the size system, such as US, UK, or EU.
Do not add an arbitrary amount to your measurement or assume all size systems convert the same way. If you are between listed sizes, use the manufacturer's guidance for that product or contact us with the style and your measurements.
Look beyond the size number
The toe shape, fastening, width, and upper construction can influence how a shoe feels. Read any fit notes and check the photographs for details that matter to you.
A pair should not depend on painful wear to become suitable. If you have a specific fitting requirement, check the product details before purchasing rather than assuming a style will accommodate it.
Trying on a new pair
Review the store's return policy before trying on or wearing a purchase. If trying on is permitted, choose a clean indoor surface, fasten both shoes as intended, and check the fit while standing and taking a few careful steps.
Notice any pressure, rubbing, excessive movement, or contact between your toes and the end of the shoe. Do not remove labels, alter the shoes, or wear them outside until you understand the applicable return conditions and are satisfied with your choice.
